When Evan was killed in Afghanistan on 29Sept.2003 we were notified by John Ratka(VNOC executive director) thru our lawyer that a building was in the works for development here in Haverhill,Ma.and would we mind if it was named after Evan. We agreed immediately,and since that day, the Evan W. O'Neill Memorial Hall was built and dedicated in Nov.2004. Residents were formally moved in on March 2005.
It is a wonderful building dedicated to the memory of Evan,and is highly thought of through out the city.The "To The Top " project was right there to provide quilts in memory of Evan's name,as well as to all the buildings that comprise the Veteran's Northeast Outreach Center.
It has been an awesome journey for all of us involved : we both miss Evan every minute of every day,but it is truly memorials like this that help dull the pain.
